The Minister for Education, Honourable Aseri Radrodro, officiated the first Cadet Passout Parade at Assemblies of God (AOG) High School in Nasinu today, commending the school’s initiative to promote discipline, teamwork, and leadership among students.

A total of 413 cadets, including 405 students from Years 9 to 11 and 8 senior prefects, successfully completed five weeks of training that culminated in today’s parade. The programme included drills, leadership exercises, and teamwork activities facilitated by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, the Fiji Police Force, and the Ministry of Health, with strong support from the School Cadet Committee, staff, parents, and the Parent Teachers and Guardians Association (PTGA).

The Hon. Minister acknowledged the efforts of the students, teachers, and parents in ensuring the success of this milestone event. He noted that the training experience has not only built discipline and resilience among the cadets but also strengthened their sense of responsibility and teamwork, qualities that are essential for leadership both within and beyond the school environment.

Hon. Radrodro also commended the teachers for their continued dedication and encouraged them to maintain their commitment to excellence and professional growth. Parents and guardians were recognised for their unwavering support and encouragement, which have been instrumental in the students’ success.

The Hon. Minister reminded Year 12 and Year 13 students to remain focused and disciplined as they prepare for the upcoming external examinations. He emphasised the importance of maintaining a balanced approach to study, health, and wellbeing, while placing faith and trust in God for guidance and wisdom.

In his closing remarks, the Minister highlighted the significance of Fiji’s 55th Independence Anniversary, encouraging students and communities to celebrate responsibly and reflect on the nation’s unity, progress, and shared identity since 1970.

The Cadet Passout Programme at AOG High School is a testament to the Ministry of Education’s commitment to holistic education, nurturing discipline, leadership, and character development alongside academic excellence.
