The Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro was the chief guest at the Rotary Club of Suva Presidentβs Handover Dinner. The event marked the transition of leadership within the Club, as outgoing President Ms. Digitaki handed over to incoming President Mr. Patel.
Honourable Radrodro acknowledged the Rotary Club of Suvaβs long-standing service to the community, highlighting its proud 89-year history as the first Rotary Club in Fiji and the Pacific. The Minister also announced a proposed new partnership between the Ministry of Education and the Rotary Club of Suva. The initiative will focus on leadership training, student mentorship, mental health and drug awareness, and environmental and public health campaigns in schools.
The Ministry will work closely with Rotary to roll out the program in selected schools in Suva, Tailevu, and Deuba later this year. A draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is expected from Rotary in the coming days to mark the start of its roll out.
Honourable Radrodro thanked Ms. Digitaki for her leadership and congratulated Mr. Patel and the incoming executive team. He called on all stakeholders to continue investing in young people through real-world experiences and mentorship.
