THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION BEGINS THE PROCESS OF THE REVIEW OF THE EDUCATION ACT 1966
The Acting Permanent Secretary of Education, Ratu Meli Nacuva, opened the Review of the Education Act 1966 workshop on behalf of the Honorable Minister for Education at the Pearl Resort, Pacific Habour.
“The current Education Act 1966 serves as the foundational legislation that governs the provision and administration of education within our jurisdiction and the review of the Education Act is long overdue,” stated Mr Nacuva.
The PS Education reiterated that the primary purpose of the workshop is to engage in thorough examination of the Education Act 1966 and delve into key challenges, opportunities and issue areas. The critical analysis will serve as a vital foundation for the comprehensive review of the Education Act 1966.
This review of the Education Act 1966 is supported by the Fiji Law Reform Commission, Office of the Solicitor General and UNICEF. The Review of the Education Act is funded by the Global Partnership for Education Fund.
The 3 day Education Act 1966 Review workshop is held for the Ministry of Education Internal Stakeholders. Public Consultations will begin in a few weeks once in-house consultations have been conducted.
