HEADS OF SCHOOLS EMPOWERED AT EDUCATION FINANCE AND POLICY WORKSHOP

The Education Finance and Policy Training Program, organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the World Bank, successfully concluded its first week of training, bringing together 11 Heads of Schools, Ministry of Education officials, and Ministry of Finance representatives to focus on strengthening education financing in Fiji. Given the important parliamentary sessions this week, the Honourable Minister for Education was unable to attend but sent his sincere support. He was represented by the Director of Curriculum Advisory Services (CAS), Mr. Iowane Tiko, who delivered the closing remarks on his behalf.

In his message, the Honourable Minister emphasized the importance of effective budgeting and the need for all participants to apply the knowledge gained from the training in their respective roles. He further commented that it is crucial for Heads of Schools and Ministry officials to collaborate and use the tools they have learned to improve the efficiency of education finance systems. The Minister also urged them to continue working together to ensure resources are allocated properly to achieve better learning outcomes for students across Fiji. The workshop aimed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to manage finances efficiently, ensuring resources are allocated to improve student outcomes. The workshop focused on Thematic Area 4 of the Denarau Declaration, which highlights the need to strengthen education finance and governance.

The Minister for Education, Honourable Aseri Radrodro, acknowledges the World Bank for its ongoing support, which has been crucial in financing programs like ASPIRE, TVET, and Early Childhood Education (ECE) initiatives. He also expressed his appreciation for the commitment and dedication shown by all participants throughout the week.

The Ministry of Education, with support from the World Bank, remains committed to ensuring that every child in Fiji has access to quality education and that financial resources are used efficiently to improve learning outcomes across the country.
