EDUCATION MINISTER CALL FOR ACCELERATE ACTION FOR GENDER EQUALITY IN FIJI

The Minister of Education, Honourable Aseri Radrodro, extends his heartfelt greetings to all the incredible women and girls of Fiji on International Women’s Day. He notes that this year’s theme, “Accelerate Action,” serves as a powerful reminder of the urgent need to breakdown barriers against women and build a more equitable future for all.

The Minister acknowledges the vital role of women in Fiji, from the family unit to national development, and advocates for a stronger focus on gender equality within the country. He particularly highlights the contributions of female educators, recognizing them as the pillars of the education system who inspire young minds and shape the nation’s future.

The Ministry of Education is committed to advancing gender equality in education by promoting gender-responsive teaching and learning practices. This ensures that all students, regardless of gender, have equal access to quality education and the opportunity to reach their full potential. Additionally, the Ministry continues to prioritize a safe, inclusive learning environment for all students, free from discrimination and harassment.

Honourable Radrodro also highlights the importance of women in leadership roles and advocates for pathways that allow women to advance in educational leadership positions at all levels. The Ministry of Education celebrates International Women’s Day by acknowledging the many women serving not only as educators but also in various statutory organizations and holding positions on boards and committees within the education sector.

To female students, Hon. Radrodro shares an empowering message: “The world is waiting for your brilliance. Embrace your passions, pursue your dreams, and never let anyone dim your light. Strive for greatness, as we are with you every step of the way, supporting your journey of learning and growth.”
