MINISTER FOR EDUCATION ENCOURAGES STUDENTS TO LEAD IN SUSTAINABILITY AT RECYCLING ON THE GO AMBASSADORS’ LEADERSHIP FORUM
The 2025 Recycling on the Go (ROG) Ambassadors Leadership Forum was held today at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi. The event brought together students, teachers, and community leaders to discuss ways to promote recycling and sustainability in schools and communities across Fiji.
Minister for Education, Honorable Aseri Radrodro, commend the ROG Ambassadors from Jai Narayan College (JNC), Queen Victoria School (QVS), Jasper Williams High School (JWHS), Nadi Sangam Primary School (NSPS), and Holy Cross College (HCC) for their leadership and efforts to promote recycling and responsible waste management.
Honorable Radrodro emphasized the importance of teaching young people about sustainability and environmental responsibility. He also spoke about how the ROG Ambassadors Program helps students become role models for others in their communities, encouraging everyone to make better choices when it comes to waste management.
The Minister, also highlighted the role of teachers, school leaders, and parents in supporting students to take action on environmental issues. He encouraged everyone to work together to protect the environment and make Fiji a cleaner, greener place for future generations. “I call on all school committees, teachers, parents, and students to take pride in the work of the ROG Ambassadors and to continue promoting sustainable practices within our schools and communities.”
The event was attended by key figures, Hon. Lenora Qereqeretabua, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Amitesh Deo, Founder of the Pacific Recycling Foundation, and Alex Pattison, Regional Manager of Swire Shipping, who shared their support for youth-led sustainability efforts.The Fiji Drua rugby team was also present, showing their support.
The ROG Ambassadors Program continues to inspire students to lead by example and make a real difference in their communities through recycling and waste management.
The forum also marked the expansion of the ROG Ambassadors Program, with students from Holy Cross College observing the event as part of their upcoming involvement in the program.
