DEEBANDHOO MEMORIAL SCHOOL PREFECTS INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2024

On Friday, February 23, the Permanent Secretary for Education, Ms. Selina Kuruleca, officiated at the Investiture Ceremony of Deenbandhoo Memorial School (DMS), marking the official induction of new student leaders.

Ms. Kuruleca began the event by acknowledging the foresight of the school’s founders in 1930, notably highlighting the contributions of the Indian Association of Fiji and esteemed individuals like Mr. A.D Patel and Vishnu Deo.

“As we gather here today, we stand on the shoulders of those who laid the groundwork for Deenbandhoo Memorial School. Their dedication to education has shaped our institution’s legacy, and it is our responsibility to uphold it with pride and reverence,” said Ms. Kuruleca.

“I challenge you to aspire to be good leaders, where you care for and love everyone. You must dedicate your life and time to the responsibility given to you,” she urged.

Ms. Kuruleca emphasized, “I urge you to treat everyone with fairness and respect, irrespective of their color, race, religion, culture, and economic status. Be compassionate and charismatic.”

Recognizing the leadership potential within each student, Ms. Kuruleca urged the entire student body to support their newly appointed prefects. She expressed gratitude to parents for their unwavering support and acknowledged the vital role of teachers in guiding students’ educational paths.

Reaffirming the government’s dedication to education, she encouraged students to seize the opportunities provided by the Ministry of Education.
