The Assistant Minister for Education, Honorable Iliesa Vanawalu, officiated at the Prefects Induction Ceremony of Naiyala High School, welcoming its new student leaders for 2024.
The ceremony, filled with pride and unity, honored 36 students given the leadership responsibility for the academic year 2024.
Acknowledging the school’s history, Honorable Vanawalu paid tribute to the traditional landowners for their foresight in establishing Naiyala High School as a center of learning since its inception in 1975.
Praising the school’s transformation, he commended its journey from a junior secondary institution to a comprehensive high school offering Year 13 education. He attributed this progress to the dedication of all stakeholders involved.
Honorable Vanawalu lauded Naiyala High School’s exceptional achievement in the 2023 external examinations, celebrating the significant improvement in pass rates compared to previous years. He commended the commitment of teachers, students, and parents, expressing confidence in the school’s continued success.
Addressing the newly appointed prefects, Honorable Vanawalu emphasized the importance of servant leadership. He reminded them that their role is not about exerting power but fostering unity and cooperation among their peers and teachers.
