The Minister for Education, Honourable Aseri Radrodro, today officially launched the Yavutu Program, a national initiative aimed at giving children in Fiji a strong start in their early years of learning, from pre-primary to Year 3.
The program, initiated by the Ministry of Education in partnership with Global Partnership for Education (GPE), UNICEF, DFAT, and the Education Partner Group, is designed to ensure that every child, regardless of where they live or their background, receives the support they need to learn, grow, and succeed.
The Yavutu Program focuses on improving teaching quality, strengthening classrooms, and creating inclusive learning environments, so that all children including those with special needs can develop literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills essential for school and life. The initiative also strengthens existing education systems, aligns with national reforms under the 2023 Denarau Declaration, and builds resilience in schools and communities.
The Hon. Minister acknowledged the support of all partners and stakeholders and emphasized that collaboration between teachers, families, and communities is key to ensuring every child reaches their full potential.
