The Minister for Education, Honourable Aseri Radrodro, continued his tour of Koro Island schools with a visit to Koro High School, joined by teachers and school communities from Tuatua Nasau District School and Qalivakabau District School.

The Hon. Minister emphasized the importance of literacy and numeracy, encouraging students to improve their reading, writing, and numeracy skills as the foundation for success. He reminded students to stay away from drugs and to make the most of government initiatives such as free education and the Back to School Assistance, saying there is no excuse for missing school.

Koro High School received solar lights to improve learning conditions, reading materials to strengthen literacy skills, and technical equipment for Carpentry and Joinery (Industrial Arts) programs, valued at over $3,000, to support the reopening of vocational programs. Tuatua Nasau and Qalivakabau District Schools, also received library resources to support literacy and learning.

The Hon. Minister also reminded teachers from Tuatua Nasau and Qalivakabau District Schools to prepare well for their Year 8 examinations, highlighting the importance of strong literacy and numeracy skills from primary school level.

The visit, as emphasized by the Honourable Minister, aimed to empower teachers and students in our maritime and remote communities, ensuring they know and feel they are not forgotten in the decisions and policies of the Ministry, and that they are supported in the ongoing pursuit of quality education.
