𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐊 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐄𝐓 𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐇 & 𝐓𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐒’ 𝐐𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐓 𝐔𝐃𝐔 𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐓 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋

The Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro this week officiated 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗨𝗱𝘂 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 in Macuata, Vanua Levu, one of Fiji’s most remote communities. The school marked the 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁, bringing 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁-𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 to Udu district, a school that had no internet access before. This milestone opens new doors for students and teachers to access online learning, communication, and resources that were previously out of reach.

In addition to, the Minister officiated the 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 at the school. The project is 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 $𝟰𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻’𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 to support housing for teachers in non-government schools. This accommodation will help retain qualified teachers in this remote area by improving their living conditions.

These initiatives are part of the 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲’𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁’𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, to improve school infrastructure and digital access in rural and maritime communities. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝟲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘂 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻,focusing on digital infrastructure enhancement in education.
