EDUCATION MINISTER COMMISSIONS NEW FACILITIES AT NAKAIDRAU PRIMARY SCHOOL

The Minister for Education, Honourable Aseri Radrodro, officially commissioned new facilities at Nakaidrau Primary School in Nasalia Village today. The event marked the completion of two major infrastructure projects, a WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) facility funded by the Australian Government through UNICEF, and new teacher’s quarters funded by the Ministry of Education. The WASH project, initially budgeted at FJD $79,000, was completed at a final cost of FJD $97,253.40, while the teacher’s quarters were constructed with a Ministry allocation of FJD $50,000.

Honourable Radrodro, in his address paid tribute to the enduring spirit of the Nasalia community, who established the school in 2017 to avoid the daily 10-mile journey students once made to Ratu Alipate Primary School. He also acknowledged the Japanese Government’s contribution of FJD $228,000, which funded a 1×3 classroom block, library, and office.

The Minister sincerely acknowledges the key development partners, the Government of Japan, DFAT, and UNICEF for their invaluable support in uplifting rural education.
