EDUCATION MINISTER OFFICIATES AT THE SUVA GRAMMAR SCHOOL PREFECT INDUCTION CEREMONY

The Minister for Education, Honourable Aseri Radrodro, today officiated at the Suva Grammar School Prefect Induction Ceremony, where 102 student leaders were formally badged. Hon. Radrodro in his address, commended the achievements of Suva Grammar School, especially its 65th Sapphire Jubilee celebrations.

The Minister, Honourable Radrodro, emphasized the importance of student leadership, urging the newly inducted prefects to serve as role models and empower their peers not only in academics but also in extracurricular activities.

Honourable Radrodro, also recognized the role of parents, guardians, and teachers in fostering student success. He encouraged parents to continue supporting their children’s education and emphasized the importance of active involvement in their academic journey. He urged HOS and teachers to continuously monitor student performance and adapt teaching methods to meet the evolving needs of today’s learners.

“Revisit your teaching pedagogies to align with students’ growing reliance on technology,” he advised, adding that the Ministry is focused on skill-based learning to better equip students for the future.

“Education is not just the responsibility of schools and teachers but a shared effort that includes the community, parents, and local leaders,” the Minister said.

Honourable Radrodro, also emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to address social issues like substance abuse, cyberbullying, and mental health challenges that affect students.

The Minister congratulated the new prefects and wished Suva Grammar School’s teachers and students success for the rest of the academic year.
