MINISTER FOR EDUCATION WELCOMES SECOND BATCH OF NEW TEACHERS
Today, the Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro, addressed the second batch of newly appointed teachers during their induction program, encouraging them to embrace their roles as mentors and facilitators.
Honourable Radrodro also acknowledged the International Day of Education, emphasizing the vital role of education in fostering peace and development. He reflected on the 2025 theme, “AI and Education – Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation,” and encouraged teachers to inspire creativity and a love for learning in their students.
The Minister highlighted the importance of improving student literacy and numeracy through collaboration between teachers, parents, and students. He also reminded the teachers to uphold professionalism, avoid distractions like mobile phone use during lessons, and familiarize themselves with the 2023 Denarau Declaration – Fiji National Education Policy Framework 2024–2034.
The program concluded with the presentation of certificates and appointment letters. Teachers also took their oath of service before the Honourable Minister, pledging their commitment to their responsibilities as educators.
The newly appointed teachers will report to their respective schools next week as the 2025 academic year begins on Monday, 27 January.
