MINISTER FOR EDUCATION OFFICIATED AT THE INDUCTION PROGRAM FOR SCHOOL CHAPLAINS
The Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro, officiated at the Induction Program for 12 School Chaplains and Deaconesses appointed to serve in all government schools.
The program introduced the Chaplains to the Ministry’s vision, policies, and their critical responsibilities in fostering students’ spiritual, emotional, and moral development. Facilitated by various Ministry units, the sessions covered:
• Legal Requirements and Registration Processes
• Civil Service Code of Conduct and Performance Assessments
• National Curriculum Framework and Lesson Planning
• Child Protection and Behaviour Management Policies
• Basic Counseling and Psychosocial Support
In his keynote address, Hon. Radrodro highlighted the crucial role of School Chaplains in instilling discipline, moral values, and resilience among students, especially in addressing challenges such as substance abuse, mental health issues, and behavioral concerns.
The program concluded with the presentation of certificates and appointment letters. The School Chaplains also took their oath of service in the presence of the Minister, pledging their commitment to guiding and supporting Fiji’s students.
The newly appointed School Chaplains will begin their assignments immediately, contributing to holistic education and creating a supportive and nurturing environment in the government schools across the nation.
