CHRISTMAS PAY OUT TO TEACHERS WHO HAVE UPGRADED TEACHING QUALIFICATIONS

The Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro is pleased to announce the payout of $988,648.30 in the last pay of 2024 to the teachers who have upgraded to the relevant teaching qualifications as per the Teacher Remuneration Policy.

The payment that the Ministry of Education makes will ensure that it maintains a quality teaching workforce with a higher standard of skills and experience. ‘This timely payout to our teachers is a testament of the Coalition government’s commitment to excellence, ensuring that our team continues to remunerate teachers accordingly,” stated Hon. Radrodro.

The increment will have a total implication of $2.3m in the 2024-2025 financial year, whereby our teachers with these relevant qualification will be permanently upgraded to either Band E, Step 1 or Band F, Step 3 of the Fiji Civil Service pay grade.

“Teachers are the backbone of our education system, and their hard work and resilience do not go unnoticed. This gesture is one of the strategies in which we reward and show our gratitude to the teachers for their commitment to quality workforce,” said the Minister for Education.

With increasing demands in education, including the integration of technology, ongoing curriculum adjustments, and emotional support for students, it is important to acknowledge the exceptional efforts of teachers who are committed to making a significant impact on the future of the children of Fiji.

The Minister for Education reiterated that “proper remuneration will ensure that MOE retains a quality teaching workforce who will bring their expertise, creativity, and passion to our children.
