HON. RADRODRO MEETS WITH TEACHER TRAINING INSTITUTIONS AND HIGHER EDUCATION COMMISSIONERS TO DISCUSS TEACHER TRAINING NEEDS IN FIJI’S EDUCATION SECTOR

The Minister for Education, Hon. Radrodro, held a productive meeting with representatives from teacher training institutions and the Higher Education Commissioners to address critical teacher training needs across various education sectors.

The discussions and deliberations focused on improving training programs for teachers in Technical and Vocational Education andTraining (TVET), Early Childhood Education (ECE), Special and Inclusive Education (SIE), Primary Education, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects.

The meeting aimed to identify key challenges and explore collaborative solutions to strengthen teacher education and professional development, ensuring that teachers are well-equipped to meet the diverse needs of students in the ever-evolving world.

Key discussion points included:

• Enhancing teacher training programs in TVET, ECE, SIE, Primary Education, and STEM fields.

• Expanding access to professional development opportunities for teachers, particularly in underserved areas.

• Improving the quality and accessibility of teacher education nationwide.
