The Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro applauded the Year 8 students during the graduation ceremony at Vuci Methodist Primary School today.
Hon. Radrodro began his key note address by quoting a verse from the Bible,” Ruth 2: 12 – ‘The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given to you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.’
This verse reminds all of us that only the Lord is in control of everything that happens around and he is the only one who will reward us.
Minister Radrodro conveyed his best wishes to all the 90 Year 8 students who were graduating and leaving the gates of VMPS to pursue further education.
“Events like these are very important as they give us an opportunity to come together in celebration of the next step in the school journey of our children.”
“It also allows us to acknowledge those students who have achieved a distinction showing their success in their education. We commend these students not just for the sake of praising their achievements, but because of the example they are setting for their peers,” stated the Education Minister.
Hon. Radrodro reiterated that the Coalition Government continues to strive to better the standard of education in our nation, transform it so that it meets the needs of all the learners and remains steadfast in providing quality and inclusive education to all children in Fiji.
While addressing at the awards day, he also elaborated on the initiative of the Coalition Government on the $200 back to school support which is now open and stressed that those parents and guardians who have a combined gross annual income of $50,000 or less will be eligible for this support.
He urged all qualifying parents and guardians to complete one application form per eligible child, and this should be submitted to the Head of School by December 6, 2024, when all applications will close,” At this juncture I wish to reiterate that parents must ensure, the phone numbers provided in the application forms are correct and active, as errors could result in the loss of funds.”
In his concluding remarks, the Education Minister also thanked all the parents, guardians and teachers for playing a critical role in cultivating civic pride and moral values in the children and also emphasised that the Ministry needs their support to work together to ensure that our children receive the nurturing and attention they deserve, both at school and at home.
