The Ministry proudly announces the successful launch of the Open Distance & Flexible Learning (ODFL) Project, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), held at the Suva Grammar School hall.

Permanent Secretary for Education Ms Kuruleca officiated at the event. In her remarks, she highlighted the significance of this initiative for enhancing education in Fiji.

PS Ms Kuruleca emphasized the need for the education system to adapt to modern demands, referencing the 2022 World Economic Forum, “Access to quality online learning is an important step in helping people future-proof their skills and seek new opportunities for growth and development.” She further added that “Our education system also needs to move towards digital literacy and technology based learning.”

The ODFL Project aims to transform educational delivery in Fiji by supporting selected pilot schools in adopting technology and innovative teaching methodologies.

In her closing remarks, Ms Kuruleca stated, “As a Ministry, we are committed to supporting the continuous training of our teachers to use these new tools creatively and effectively and to ensure that the benefits of this program reach all schools, whether they are in our urban centres or the most remote areas of our islands.”

The Ministry is dedicated to equipping students and teachers with the necessary tools to thrive in a increasingly digital world. This initiative promises to lay a strong foundation for the future of Education in Fiji.
