The Minister of Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro officially handed over a 28ft Wooden Boat with a 40hp Mercury Outboard Engine, 100L outboard motor fuel, and a 300-liter water tank. This boat and engine will assist in transporting students from Bouwaqa Village and Lomanikaya Village to Vatulele District School. “Education is the key to unlocking the golden door of freedom and the Coalition government’s commitment to equitable access to education,” stressed the Hon Radrodro. “The boat and engine will improve access to schools for students, particularly those in remote and maritime zones. Equity and accessibility is about getting the basics right; being able to hand over this wooden boat and engine means that we have increased access and given an opportunity to you, our students.” The Ministry has spent substantial amounts on boats and engines for various schools in Fiji. Hon. Radrodro calls on the Head of School, management representatives, and teachers to encourage parents to send their children to school and work collaboratively with the school head and teachers. “The boat and engine maintenance will be the responsibility of the Head of School and management,” reminded Hon Radrodro. The Minister for Education encourages students to work hard, aim for excellence, and prioritize schoolwork.
