Tilak High School marked its 70th anniversary with a special celebration attended by students, teachers, parents, alumni, and guests. The event was officiated by the Minister for Education, Honourable Aseri Radrodro.
Founded in 1955 and named after the Indian freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak, the school has grown from just 60 students and 3 teachers to over 1,000 students, supported by 57 teachers and staff. The schoolโs motto, โLaborare est Orareโ (Work is Worship), continues to inspire students to pursue excellence.
The Minister congratulated the school community for their dedication and achievements over the decades. He encouraged students to work hard, be proud of their school, and to embrace values like creativity, resilience, and responsibility. Teachers were recognised for their important role in guiding and supporting students, while parents and guardians were reminded of their vital contribution to their childrenโs education.
The School Management Board was commended for their leadership and ongoing efforts to help the school grow and adapt. Education Minister, Hon. Radrodro also shared that schools now have greater freedom in managing their funds and fundraising efforts, allowing them to better meet their individual needs.
While reflecting on past achievements, the Education Minister encouraged everyone to continue working together to support the schoolโs future, preparing students to succeed in a changing world.
