Today, the Minister for Education, Honourable Aseri Masivou Radrodro, officially launched the Future Leaders Fiji 2025 programme at Nasinu Secondary School.
Nasinu Secondary is the first school in Fiji to host this youth engagement session under the Pathways to Purpose initiative, proudly supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Speaking to the students, Honourable Radrodro challenged them to reflect on their own leadership potential. When he asked, βAre there leaders in the room?β their hesitant response, he said, showed the importance of helping young people believe in themselves.
The Pathways to Purpose programme is a national initiative designed to guide young people to see their value, set goals, and make choices that strengthen their families and communities. It focuses on:
β’ Building self-worth, discipline, and resilience through mentorship, sports, arts, and culture.
β’ Supporting young people to make healthy choices and resist peer pressure and substance abuse.
β’ Helping students become empowered and purposeful leaders.
Students participated in sessions such as βWho am I as a Leader?β, βTraditional Leadership and Valuesβ, βWomen in Leadershipβ, and βSafer Communitiesβ, exploring how leadership starts with personal choices and responsibility.
The Legend of Sevens Rugby, Waisale Serevi, also addressed the students, sharing words of encouragement and inspiring them to believe in their potential.
The Future Leaders Fiji Pathways to Purpose programme aims to nurture a generation of young Fijians who are confident, disciplined, and guided by strong values, ready to lead positive change in their communities and across the nation.
