The Minister for Education, Honourable Aseri Radrodro, officially opened the newly constructed gymnasium at Levuka Public School on Friday, 12 September 2025.
Funded by the Ministry of Education at a value of $24,000, the facility is equipped with gym equipment provided by Fiji Weightlifting and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, giving students a dedicated space to engage in physical activities and develop their talents.
Speaking to the students, teachers, and parents, Honourable Radrodro highlighted the importance of regular physical activity for both physical and mental well-being, especially in todayβs world of digital distractions.
The Hon. Minister encouraged teachers to integrate lessons on health and hygiene into classroom learning and urged parents to continue supporting their children with guidance, moral values, and quality time at home. He also reminded students to take pride in the facility, treat it with respect, and enjoy the opportunities it provides.
Honourable Radrodro reaffirmed the Governmentβs commitment to education, highlighting programs such as Free Education Grants, Transport Assistance, Boarding Grants, Water Tanks, and Textbook Assistance to support students across Fiji.
By providing improved facilities such as this gym, the Ministry is supporting equitable access to quality education for every student across remote, maritime, and rural areas, ensuring that no child is left behind and that essential educational services are accessible to all.
