The Minister for Education officially opened the 42nd Annual Conference of the Fiji Primary Heads of Schools at the Denarau Convention Centre, Nadi.
In his keynote address, the Honourable Minister thanked all Heads of Schools for their leadership and dedication. He said head teachers play a vital role in guiding students, teachers, and communities, and are key to improving education in Fiji.
The Minister also reminded Heads of Schools to prepare well for Term 3 particularly for the Fiji Year 8 Examination in October and to ensure student exam marks are submitted on time.
He further encouraged schools to use government funding wisely and to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, regardless of their background.
The Minister also highlighted the Free Education Grant (FEG), which has been disbursed to 806 schools this term, supporting over 243,000 students across early childhood, primary, and secondary levels.
The Minister also offered an apology to the Heads of Schools for any shortcomings in service delivery by education staff.
The conference continues this week with discussions on school leadership, student success, and building a better education system for all Fijians.
