DRAUNIIVI PUBLIC SCHOOL AND VATUKALOKO SECONDARY SCHOOL CELEBRATE GROUNDBREAKING OF MULTIPURPOSE HALL AND CLASSROOMS
The Minister for Education, Honourable Aseri Radrodro, today officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for major education projects at Draunivi Public School and Vatukaloko Secondary School in Ra. Funded by the FIJI Water Foundation, the $500,000 investment includes a $200,000 multipurpose hall at Draunivi Public School and a $272,600 laboratory and classroom block at Vatukaloko Secondary School.
“These projects will benefit not only these schools but also five villages and twelve settlements, serving nearly 2,800 people,” said Minister Radrodro. Draunivi’s new multipurpose hall will host events, PE classes, community gatherings, and act as an emergency shelter during disasters. Vatukaloko will benefit from new classrooms and a science lab to reduce overcrowding and support academic growth.
Hon. Radrodro acknowledged the ongoing partnership with the FIJI Water Foundation, which has supported both schools since 2018 through funding for libraries, IT resources, water systems, and more. “These projects are about more than just buildings; they are investments in our children’s future,” he said.
