HONOURABLE RADRODRO LAUNCHES TSLS ICT INITIATIVES AND FRAMEWORKS
The Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro launched five Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Initiatives and Alumni & Employer Connect Framework for TSLS at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.
“Launch of such initiatives is leading to operational excellence through accountable administration and sophisticated modern customer experience and the People’s Coalition Government is making serious strides towards achieving SDG 4 on quality education. As such, the targets on increasing access to tertiary education for youths including girls and people with disabilities are met by innovative scholarship and study grant policies.”
The Education Minister launched the following:
• TSLS Guarantor Clearance QR Code Kiosk System
• Scholarships Data Intelligence Platform
• TSLS Mobile App with Travel and Bond Clearance
• Partner Tertiary Education Institution Portal
• Launch of the Alumni & Employer Connect Framework
• Launch of Upgraded Alumni and Employer Connect Portal
During his keynote address, Hon. Radrodro proudly stated that out of 20,746 under scholarships, 53 percent are females and revealed that more new scholarships were given this year, compared to the last 3 years. The new awards in 2023 were 4,731 and in 2024 were 7,662 when compared to 8,700 for 2025.
“This year’s figure is a clear testament that the People’s Coalition Government scholarship polices are more successful as more access is provided to Fijians to pursue tertiary education dream. In addition to the new awards there are 10,244 continuing students on Fiji Government scholarship. If one adds new and continuing sponsored students, the total is 18,944. And to give full picture of total students assisted so far which includes scholarships, study loans and grants is 20,746 and that is an achievement. This is the highest after 2020.”
In his concluding remarks, Hon. Radrodro emphasised that as our beloved nation is becoming the digital and ICT hub of the Pacific, “we are proud of TSLS’s digital initiatives and with all the new initiatives on board, I am confident that the TSLS Board, the competent CEO and staff will soar to greater heights. He also acknowledged the TSLS Board and Management of TSLS for envisioning and putting public service at the forefront of its function.
