AMBASSADOR OF CHINA TO FIJI, HIS EXCELLENCY ZHOU JIAN, AND THE HONOURABLE MINISTER FOR EDUCATION SIGN MOU TO LAUNCH JOINT CHINESE LANGUAGE PROGRAM

The Ambassador of China to Fiji and the Minister for Education signed an agreement to start the Joint Chinese Language Education Program.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) sets up a plan to teach Chinese language and culture in Fiji. The program will include hiring Chinese language teachers, offering scholarships for Fijian teachers, and organizing student and teacher exchange programs. Local universities will also include Chinese language courses in their programs, encouraging learning multiple languages and connecting globally.

The Chinese Language Program will be piloted in twelve schools, six primary and six secondary schools, in the Central Division. It aims to expose students to the Chinese language and culture, fostering mutual understanding and building stronger educational ties between Fiji and China.
