Today, the Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro, officiated at the graduation ceremony of 66 students from the Ministry of Youth & Sports, who successfully completed the Certificate Level 4 in Music Performance.

The event was held to celebrate the students’ dedication and hard work throughout the year-long program, with 27 females and 39 males graduating with newfound musical skills and passion.

Speaking at the graduation, Hon Radrodro highlighted the importance of perseverance, discipline, and collaboration in music, noting that true excellence is shaped by hard work and a willingness to embrace both successes and challenges.

“I encourage you all to utilize your skills, unearth your talents, and in all that you do, show love and glory to God.” He further emphasized the importance of contributing to communities by sharing one’s God-given gifts and talents, making the world stronger and kinder through collective effort.

The Minister for Education, Hon Radrodro, also noted the Coalition Government’s commitment to providing educational opportunities, particularly through initiatives like the Certificate 4 music course, which is offered free of charge by the Ministry of Youth & Sports. This initiative provides an alternative pathway to education and employment, equipping youth with skills to pursue careers in music and other fields.

Honorable Radrodro proudly shared that graduates from the program have already secured roles in various institutions such as the Suva Christian School, the RFMF band, and the National Youth Band. Several graduates are also contributing to government events and ministerial engagements, showcasing their musical talents on a national platform.

“While not everyone may become doctors, teachers, or engineers, the entertainment industry, including music, plays a crucial role in Fiji’s economy.” He acknowledged local music icons like George Fiji Veikoso and Laisa Vulakoro, who have made significant contributions to the Fijian music scene.

In closing, the Minister for Education, Hon. Radrodro encouraged the graduates to continue their musical journeys, whether as performers, composers, or lifelong lovers of music. He expressed his confidence that the graduates are now well-equipped with the knowledge, skills, and creativity to navigate the future and urged them to pursue their dreams with passion and determination.

The ceremony concluded with heartfelt gratitude to the teachers, mentors, and families who supported the graduates along their journey. Hon. Radrodro extended his congratulations to the graduates, wishing them success as they continue to share their love of music with the world.
