SAINT ANNE’S PRIMARY SCHOOL – 120 YEARS ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Permanent Secretary for Education, Ms Selina Kuruleca graced St. Anne’s Primary School 120 years anniversary celebration with her presence and acknowledged the school for it’s contribution to both local and national development.
“We have gathered here to celebrate a remarkable milestone—120 years of St. Anne’s Primary School, a beacon of hope, education, women, and empowerment in the community. As we reflect on this journey, we honor the vision of Blessed Anne Marie Javouhey, who, in 1805, dreamed of a world where women could embrace greater choice and freedom,” said Ms. Kuruleca.
She further added that this weeklong celebrations will allow the St. Anne’s community to rejoice the values that the school has imparted over generations, including leadership, community service, and cultural pride.
Highlighting the transformation in the education system over the years, Ms Kuruleca stressed that we as educators and parents need to engage, incorporate and provide an educational system which is designed to make the journey of our students and teachers more inclusive, innovative, and responsive to today’s challenges.
“As we celebrate this 120th anniversary, let us look forward with hope and determination. Together, we can continue to build a community where every child feels valued and inspired to thrive. Let us cherish the past, embrace the present, and step boldly into the future, centered in Christ, committed to holistic education, and dedicated to celebrating the rich cultural diversity that makes our school unique.”
In her closing remarks, PS Education shared an inspirational and motivational quote from Barrack Obama on hope, education and the future, “Hope is not blind optimism. It’s not ignoring the enormity of the task ahead or the roadblocks that stand in our path. It’s not sitting on the sidelines or shirking from a fight. Hope is that thing inside us that insists, despite all evidence to the contrary, that something better awaits us if we have the courage to reach for it, and to work for it, and to fight for it. Hope is the belief that destiny will not be written for us, but by us, by the men and women who are not content to settle for the world as it is, who have the courage to remake the world as it should be.”
