2024 TEACHER’S DAY AND FIJI DAY CELEBRATIONS AT MOE HQ

Today, the Permanent Secretary for Education, Ms. Selina Kuruleca addressed the MOE Staff during the Teacher’s Day and Fiji Day Celebrations at MOE Headquarters.

She stressed that Teachers’ Day is celebrated globally on 5th of October every year and it is a day dedicated to recognising the dedication, passion, and hard work that teachers bring into the lives of their students.”

She highlighted that globally World Teachers’ Day has been celebrated since 1994.

“Teachers are like candles that light up the path of knowledge. They work tirelessly to ensure students we understand the concept of teaching and learning, lessons and encourage students to reach their full potential. I want to take a moment to reflect on what it means to be a teacher, on behalf of the Honorable Aseri Radrodro, Honorable Maciu, Honorable Iliesa Vanawalu and the senior management of the Ministry of Education, please accept our deepest appreciation to you and your families for your dedication, compassion and the humility for which you have served our children and our Nation. Vinaka vinaka Vinaka. Yalo vinaka tiko, do good, be good and do better. “

Speaking during the celebrations today, PS Education also emphasised that in the rich history of our nation, 10th October, 2024 marks the 54th year of the independence. It is a day of pride for all Fijians.

“Fiji has come a long way since 1970 when we were given the instruments of independence by King Charles. During the past 54 years our nation has experienced growth and development. Fiji has a rich and proud history from which we should draw our inspiration from.”

“This year’s theme for our Fiji Day Celebrations is “To Heal and Hope” and it expresses our belief and hope that the best way to achieve a prosperous Fiji is by moving together—where everyone in Fiji sees themselves as part of one community,” said Ms. Kuruleca.

In her closing remarks PS Education stated “I wish to challenge you all that this is a time also to look forward to our future! We are on the threshold of achieving even greater things and we must continue to support each other for the best results, remain steadfast, be men and women of honor, and have faith in the Lord and your prayers.”
