HON. RADRODRO HANDS OVER FURNITURE AT DILKUSHA METHODIST HIGH SCHOOL

Today, the Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro officially handed over furniture at Dilkusha Methodist High School (DMHS), Nausori.

In his opening address, Hon.Radrodro shared a Bible verse from Ephesians 6:1-3 “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honour your father and mother—which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth” and stated that this verse reminds all children to obedient towards their parents, as this is the right thing to do.

“I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to the Office of the Prime Minister for providing the new set of furniture and the total cost of this set is valued at $9,500.00.This may seem like a simple act, but it is a crucial step in improving the learning environments for our students and supporting the overall quality of education in the school, ” said Hon.Radrodro.

Emphasising on the importance of equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed, he stressed that comfortable desks, chairs, and safe school furniture play a significant role in enhancing students’ concentration and engagement during the lessons.

He further added that this handover is a testament to the collaboration between the People’s Coalition Government, school management committees, parents, teachers and students,”it demonstrates our collective commitment to improving the standard of education for all. We are deeply appreciative of the support and dedication that has made this possible, and I thank everyone involved.”

The Education Minister also took a moment to wish all the teachers present at the handing over “Happy

World Teachers Day’ as this is commemorated on 5 October every year.

“This special day is set aside to appreciate the presence of teachers and recognise the immense contribution they make towards our society and the influence each teacher has in the life of a student.

I strongly believe that a teacher serves as the most important pillar of strength for development, progress and success in our society.”

“The 2024 World Teacher’s Day is celebrated under the international theme “Valuing teachers’ voices: towards a new social contract for education.” The theme highlights the importance of integrating teachers’ perspectives into education policies and forging a supportive environment for their professional development.”

Subsequently, Hon.Radrodro also wished the Year 12 and Year 13 students of DMHS all the best for the upcoming external examinations and urged them to attempt the exam papers to the best of their ability.

The Year 13 External Examination is from 28 Oct – 8 Nov and Year 12 External Examination is from 12 November -22 November.

The Minister for Education reiterated that the People’s Coalition Government remains steadfast in our efforts to ensure that every child in Fiji has access to quality education, regardless of their background or where they live. This means continuing to invest in infrastructure, teacher development, and the children.
