On Sunday, February 18th, the Permanent Secretary for Education officiated at the Prefects Induction Ceremony of Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS). The ceremony marked the official welcome of new student leaders.
The Permanent Secretary, Ms. Kuruleca, paid tribute to the late Ratu Penaia Kadavulevu, the school’s founder. Highlighting Ratu Kadavulevu’s visionary leadership, she emphasized the importance of honoring his legacy and embracing the values that have guided RKS for generations.
“As we gather here today, we stand on the shoulders of giants. Ratu Kadavulevu’s foresight and dedication to education laid the foundation for this esteemed institution, and it is incumbent upon us to uphold his legacy with pride and reverence,” said Ms. Kuruleca.
Ms. Kuruleca praised Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) for their impressive performance in the Year 13 external exams, noting their outstanding 99% pass rate, the highest among all government schools in Fiji. This recognition highlighted RKS’s commitment to excellence in education and its ability to produce outstanding results.
“The school has bestowed upon you the responsibility to lead your peers and serve your school. So, I would like to ask that our prefects reflect on this responsibility. Choose to be extraordinary when you choose to be responsible,” said Ms. Kuruleca.
Ms. Kuruleca concluded with a call to action for all students to strive for excellence and to honor the legacy of those who paved the way before them. “Choose to be extraordinary when you choose to be responsible,” highlighting the values of leadership and excellence instilled in the students of Lodoni.
