Mission

To provide optimal staffing resources to secondary schools and promote committed and competent workforce that enables the MoE to maximize the use of Budgeted Resources

The Secondary Section focuses on the management of the 173 public secondary schools in Fiji with the new inclusion of Bau Central College and Nasau Central Secondary School in Ra in 2018. Of these 173 public secondary schools, there are 65 boarding schools. Collectively the secondary schools can be further segmented as follows:

The Secondary Section basically assist the various communities as shown below:

  • Ministry of Education , Heritage and Arts (Other sections)
  • Secondary Schools
  • General Public
  • Local and Overseas private agencies
  • Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs)
  • Other Ministries of the Government
  • Management and Administration of Secondary Schools

Role of the Section

The Section provides a link between the Secondary schools in Fiji and the other sections of the Ministry of Education, other government ministries, non-governmental organizations, overseas agencies and the general public at large

The Section oversees the management and administration of secondary schools in Fiji, the monitoring of the utilization of the Free Education Grants (FEG) for all public secondary schools and the Boarding Per Capita Grant for the boarding secondary schools. In addition, the Section facilitates approved requests, from other ministries and non-governmental organizations who intend to engage secondary schools and students in national organized activities or agency initiatives. Apart from the main roles of the section, it also assists the general public through face to face enquiries, email requests, telephone enquiries, Careers Expo and Government Road Shows which are organized by other government ministries.
