Introduction
Students are assessed to determine the extent of their achievement of
curriculum objectives. This in turn helps teachers and the Ministry of
Education in identifying students' strengths and areas needing improvement in
teaching and in the allocation of teaching resources.
Achievement information is derived from internally assessed course
work and external examinations. Schools provide reports of internal tests and
assessments to students and parents while the Ministry through its Examinations
Unit conducts 5 external examinations and issues examination results and
certificates.
Under the present system, students may take the following national
