FRANCHISE PROGRAMME |
| |
Students doing franchised courses would continue at FIT and are geared for the Industry while those in the Ministry of Education programme are primarily prepared for self-employment.
This franchising scheme allows the students to do the FIT stages 1, 2 and 3 and the TPAF Class 3 Trade Test at school-based. Students may pursue stages 4 and 5 at FIT in order to complete and gain their Trade Certificates. While it is advisable to do these franchising programmes in schools due to its cheaper fees, both the students and schools will benefit from the course in the long run.
The Training Productivity Authority of Fiji [TPAF] also play an important role in the upgrading of skills in our Vocational Schools. Trade Tests in Automotive Engineering and Carpentry & Joinery are offered to selected Vocational schools and students could graduate with a Class 3 Junior Tradesman Certificate, after completing two years of vocational training.
In 1998, Trade Tests was also offered to the Girls Vocational Programme. Vocational schools are expected to offer and encourage their students to sit these tests and gain credits, towards nationally recognized qualifications. |
