The Ministry of Education, Heritage and the Arts, out of a concern for the health and wellbeing of the nation’s students in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, has announced that schools will remain closed until 12 June 2020. Classes are expected to resume from 16 June 2020.

The Ministry is advising that private schools and day cares should remain closed for this period.

Any further extension on school closure by the Ministry of Education will also be applicable to the private schools and daycare centers.

Parents can also contact the respective Heads of schools for the additional
resource materials.

Parents are again reminded that these resources are supplementary and are non-examinable. These are designed to keep our children occupied at home however the Ministry is also advising that this should not be limited to given resources and open to innovative parents and explorative children.

Students are encouraged to stay tuned to Radio Fiji One and Radio Fiji Two for the daily radio programmes and also access Ministry’s Walesi Channel 9 that is on trial operations.

Minister Akbar reminds children to continue washing their hands with soap and water for 20 seconds and to practice social distancing.
